In 2012/13, Alverno girls were invited to participate on the youth organizing committee of the TEDx @Caltech event on the Brain, called Brain Food. Alverno students didn't just participate, they excelled! Karmah and her gaming friends presented a talk on The Effect of Gaming on the Teenage Brain, and Karmah also won the logo design contest!
TEDx@Caltech is a prestigious and popular event. This year, top scientists in brain research presented their work to the audience.
Also, this year for the first time, a TEDxYouth event (grades 6 -12) was held at Caltech on the day after the TEDx conference. The theme was Brain Food (What Feeds Your Brain?).
TEDxYouth was SOLD OUT (900+ in Beckman Auditorium) on the Tuesday before the event.
